Did You Have An Open House Today?

In this time of Raya festive celebration, mum gathers her excitement and decides she wants to hold an 'Open House' at home for the 3rd Day of Raya. This is not a surprise to us anymore because mum is one to be known to make big decisions at the very last minute or perhaps she may have planned it earlier but just delayed us on the info- we're practically immuned to it now! So then, an open house from morning till late- our house was open for relatives and friends to come visit and enjoy good food served. There must've been a million other people out there holding open houses on the same date too but it sure did'nt show at ours cos' people were still flowing in and all the food was savaged until the last crumb. God Bless!

Our menu for the day was my mums famous 'Lontong'- which is known to actually be a Singaporean dish compiling of; Nasi Impit, Vege Santan, Satay Sauce and Belacan. And on the other side was some good traditional Malay 'Bakso'- which is actually Meat Ball Noodles Soup. As for dessert, we served my famous 'Longan Macaroni Salad'. This dish; you may can either love it or hate it cos' I've had many tell me both these instances. Our Bakso was well in demand and obviosly was the first to finish

Did You Get A New Car Today?

Because I did!! and I'm absolutely, most deliriously happy and over the top excited about it! For a long time now I've set my eyes and heart on this jewel beheld as a diamond pearl hybrid on wheels and now this pursuit of perfection is now mine for living.

On the blessed, faithful, beautiful friday morning of the 27th of September 2007, this diamond pearl of mine was born- that morning my ever so helpful and sweet Mr. Lover and I greeted our most kind and generous car sales dealer with an early signing of the receival form. With every document signed, checked and gone through, she seduced us from the glass wall just behind us to which we all could not wait to get to.

I remember the first time when everything was just getting serious with getting her. To think that I had almost ignored this desire! -I would've lost out big time. Driving the Maroon Nissan Sunny had always been a good ride for me, just nice; fast and light but just not my taste and more importantly- not mine. It's my mum's and I've just been using it to keep it used for the good of everything really. Now since Ming has recently started to take her driving lessons, it has enlightened my decision to get a new car. Eyeing for a perfect car to meet my satisfaction did'nt come easy though, first up was the type of build of car that I wanted, then the make and then the price; different priorities jetted in and out of my mind. However, it was her that finally fit the picture. Then with alot of thinking I finally got the courage to ask my mum if it was fine with her as it is me who is paying for her Nissan. And well enough, she was supportive of the idea and was even surprised that I would ask for her permission. She told me that she loves that car, that it would most definitely be my own decision to get it or not and that I should not make the Nissan an issue to worry about either. I love my mother- She's the Best, ain't she?

Surf's Up or Not?

‘Radical.. .’. went the surfing chicken, Joe. It’s been a while since we’ve gone out for a late night show, with all the other plans happening we hadn’t the time or energy to go until last night. And this time, it happened to be Surf’s Up -another penguin cartoon that I thought would be fun to watch and indeed it was. Charmingly funny and unique is what I thought of it. You must see these cute little penguins on the big screen for yourself to know of course.
Penguins have grown to become one of my favourite animals honestly. I absolutely loved them in all the cartoons and in documentaries as well (March of the Penguins and Discovery Channel). They’re all so cute and adorable and sometimes I fantasise that it would be really cool to have one living in my house. Unfortunately, I’ve only come this close to them. I have yet to go to the zoo and watch them live or perhaps get the chance to touch or feed them! Oh that would be wonderful! *
Besides the ecstasy of enjoying these adorable ‘pengs’, there was also the drool in watching them surf. I can’t deny that they really made the sport seem like a haven. Even through watching these movies of surfing, I get so captivated by the thrill it must be to glide that wave, surf through that tube and have that beauty in it all. It must seem that I would love to surf, but my sense of fear getting injured by it is by far much greater to allow this. Though, perhaps just a try at it would be endearing*.
The next movie would probably be Transformers, which would be showing next week. It would be the first Transformers movie and it looks rather interesting to watch so I’m hoping this would be just as it seems. Can you already tell that I’m a movie fanatic? I’m proud to admit that I completely love movies. I love everything about them, the whole lustre in its existence, appreciating all the effort people make in making them and just its pleasures. The Mr. loves it as much as I do I presume, with all his fervent in never missing a premier and obedience in our Thursday movie day gave it away. So the Surf’s up definitely for me.

Do You Sing?

Singing has always been one of my favourite things to do because it makes me feel good and its tons of fun- even when you’re alone. Singing in the car, in my room, in my office, in my studio, at school, I sing almost everywhere and anywhere. It may sound that I come across as someone whom is not shy but the truth of the matter is that I actually am quite a shy person. So, even though I like to sing- I make it a point that I sing when no one is watching. I’m way too embarrassed to sing with an audience and this can be a problem when I’m karaoke-ing or performing with friends. However, I can still do sing in these situations for the sake of my hopeless devoted love for singing but this is once I’ve overcome the jitters of course!

In the car, I’m embarrassed to admit that I’m one of those who like to crank up the volume on my desired songs and sing along because somehow it just wouldn’t be as satisfying. And this is a definite stress relief for my system. Songs that I usually sing to are slow songs and ones with catchy tunes which are probably categorised as ‘pretty-easy- to-sing-to’. And since I’m terrible with following lyrics I tend to hum a lot too. Oui! I am a go-getter on the road and it just wouldn’t do for me without having fun jetting to places.

After taking a moment trying to figure out where would be the oddest place I’ve sung at- I’ve only come as far as the library and that itself is just a vague memory, not enough to really count. But when you really think about it, there is no oddest place for singing (because you can actually sing anywhere) and it’s more likely that there is an oddest time. I think one of the oddest times I’ve sung in is during an awkward meeting with someone which is done so that the silence is broken. So I guess you can say, singing does a lot of good for me- certainly in more ways than one and I don’t think I would ever give up my voice as Aerial did in the ‘Little Mermaid’, but then again, I would do anything for love so don’t hold me on that!

Do you have Sushi at night?

Okay, this is a rather odd way to start a blog but who’s to say what’s the right way to do it right? Having a blog in itself speaks for something out of the ordinary and I must tell you that the occurrence of the extraordinary may be more frequently seen here than expected…Or not? Anyway, be as it may be, here’s getting right to it and by golly that’s how it should really be done!

“Hmmm…I’m craving for Sushi”. This was my answer to the night’s bonus dinner question. My soul companion and I seem to stumble in this situation almost every time we go out. The inevitable query of figuring out where to eat- I’ve known to hear the same problem happening to others too but never was I told of how to solve it.
We have bravely attempted to settle this matter once during the early two weeks of dating, and we brilliantly came up with making a dice! Our ‘Going Out Dice’. It would be our savior to the drought of ideas, the light bulb in the dusty dark! The dice would have six faces, each one labelled ‘Gadong’, ‘Q-Lap’, ‘Serusop’, ‘Bandar’, ‘Batu Bersurat’ and ‘Kiarong’. We thought that if we start out with the area then we can just carry forward from there, and if we don’t agree- we can dice it again until we find something we both like. However, since we are both humane procrastinators, of course this dice does not actually exist yet. Whether it will be born or not? That wholly depends on its fate with the higher power.

Luckily, we’ve been able to survive without it somehow and last night’s verdict was confirmed through craving. Yes! Another important decision handled very well! We had never gone out for sushi at night before and it was quite exciting to actually break away from that realized taboo. Though, this did not pan out as smoothly as I imagined. First, since we hadn’t made any reservations, we had a twenty minute wait for our table at the bar and secondly, the irresistible fate of ordering too much. I was determined to get my sweet egg sushi for sure and my fair share of salmon, prawn and tuna plus octopus, then because of that sensible urge to eat enough for dinner, I foolishly order a plate of fried rice. This is a mistake I always tend to make, and whoever I eat sushi with should be wise to advice me to just order sushi and nothing else. Please do.

Nevertheless, I found sushi to be just as great daylight or at night. The giggling embarrassment shared in ways to eat a mouthful of sushi, the chopsticks fussing and flowing green tea rolled up a mere exotic treat with the night to illuminate a gentle romance. How would you enjoy it?
